Your rights as a buyer & customer

• Shops must give you a written estimate if you request one.
• They cannot exceed the estimate without calling you for approval.
• Your car must be returned in the same or better condition.
• You're entitled to an itemized invoice listing parts and labor.
• You are not required to pay for unauthorized repairs.

If they did unauthorized work: start with the shop manager, then file a complaint with your country or region's consumer protection office.
